Supporting article from The Guardian for ‘Food for Thought’

One of us here at Akanbe spent a significant chunk of June and July working on a short documentary that has now gone live. It tells a small story of a vegetarian restaurant in Covent Garden that became an institution over it’s 44 years of business. More importantly though, it tells a much bigger story of the changing face of Central London due to rising rents and corporate expansion.

This was definitely one of those projects where you walk in the room and meet your subject and just think “Wow, this is going to be good”. Filming someone with such charisma and passion is a wonderful experience, but ultimately, it is just very very sad to see such a lively and unique place go. I wish all the staff the very best.
